What does GOD ask of us?

Succeed first and foremost in one thing: FAITHFULNESS.

Satisfy our longings only with His infinite love.

Secure our intimate relationship with Him above all things.

Serve only because of love and nothing else.

FIVE TIPS ON GOOD STUDY HABITS

1. BUDGET YOUR TIME – time is a precious commodity. You will have more to do than you think you can ever get done. Use a daily planner to keep track of what you need to get done. Use a large monthly calendar to see the “big picture” of things coming up.

2. DO ALL ASSIGNMENTS – you cannot learn math or physics or chemistry or … by watching someone else do it. You must do it yourself. If you work in a group, the person who understands best will end up doing all the work and you will not learn how to do it yourself.

3. TAKE GOOD NOTES – taking good notes is a skill that takes work to develop. Good note taking starts with reading the material before class and taking some notes from the reading. Pay attention in class.

4. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF you cannot study effectively when you are mentally or physically tired. When you can no longer concentrate it is time to take a break. Be sure your breaks are not taking up more time than your studying is! The “lights out” time is there for a reason – you need your rest. If you do not get enough rest, you cannot learn as well. Eat right, get plenty of rest, and wash your hands regularly to minimize the spreading of germs.

5. MINIMIZE DISTRACTIONS – playing computer games, watching movies, blogging, attempting to impress members of the opposite sex, or trying to solve everyone else’s personal problems are common distractions. Any time spent on distractions is time you are not spending on academics. There is plenty of time to do the “fun” stuff, but remember academics come first. Reward yourself with the fun activities on weekends and during vacations.
